The seminar presents the impressive work of Joseph Conrad, i.e. Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, a great Pole, British writer, and universal artist, with an extraordinary power of influence. It inspires many artists, not only in literature but also in film, theatre, comics, computer games and opera.

Assessment criteria
The assessment shall be
- systematic and active participation in classes
- oral answer concerning the content of the readings, their problems and the terminology learned.
A failing grade is awarded to a student who does not know the content of the readings, has not actively participated in classes, is unable to indicate and discuss a selected problem, and does not use the terminology of literary studies.
A satisfactory grade is awarded to a student who knows the content of the discussed readings, can reconstruct their issues reconstructively, has participated in classes, and knows the basic terms of literary studies.
A good grade is awarded to a student who has read the readings carefully and can answer questions with a high degree of detail about the content. S/he indicates important research problems and their contexts to the selected work and can reproduce the analysis of a chosen issue.
A very good grade is obtained by a student who actively participates in classes, knows all the readings in a high degree of detail, can independently analyze the indicated problem with references to the literature on the subject, uses literary studies terminology consciously and fluently, and can formulate well-founded critical opinions.
