Course objectives:
functionalisation of literary historical knowledge from the perspective of translation. Getting to know the main currents of translation theory, and analysing the exemplification of diachronic variant translations of the source text, synchronic analysis, ordering and hierarchizing the relations between translation and the reception of the work, detecting and discussing the influence of the individual translator's talent on the degree of objectivity in translation, researching and creating a paradigm of literary studies reading of translation.Ccritically formulating schemes for implementation of translation analyses in literary analyses.

participation in classes 30 hours = 1 ECTS
self-reading 15 hours = 0.5 ECTS

Assessment criteria
The classes end with an assessment.
The assessment shall include the following elements:
- attendance and active participation in classes (2 absences per semester are allowed)
- active participation in exercises carried out during classes and regular reading of the available literature on the subject
- a final written exam consisting of two parts; part A tests the knowledge: knowledge of the literature on the subject, terminology, methods and knowledge gained during classes; Part B checks skills
concerning an independent comparative analysis of Polish translations of a fragment of a literary work in the original.
