(in Polish) WO: Filozofia w kulturze popularnej WF-FI-WPLOTKA-WO192
The subject of the lecture concerns selected philosophical concepts that can be read in the broadly understood works of popular culture, primarily in films and serials. The lecture adopts a hermeneutic method, which serves to interpret the sense of a cultural work as constituted by a certain sense-making practice. This method adopts the principle of autonomy of a work of art, i.e. the purpose of the analysis is not the senses present in the work which the author wanted to include in it, but the sense that is presented in the interpretation. Thus, behind Gadamer, it is assumed that a work of art means everything that can mean. A similar methodological attitude makes it possible to extract the meanings characteristic of a work, regardless of its artistic value. During the classes, the subject of consideration will be film art works, eg "Pulp Fiction" Tarantino and selected series, eg "Westworld". The analysis of these artifacts is to be the starting point for the presentation of the main concepts and problems and proposals for their solution in philosophy.
