Latin language 3 WF-FI-13-LAC3
Obligatory classes of the Latin - 30 hours per semester , 60 hours per year.
Grading - tests.
Students become skilful at translation of Latin texts. They should know the available dictionaries and grammar textbooks to be able to use them freely .
Selected vocabulary will be presented with both the Polish and the ancient Greek translation (starts course of Greek) .

Knowledge:
1. the student is able to account for the grammatical structures introduced in the 3th semester, 2. develops the translation technique; 3. knows elements of ancient culture
Abilities:
4. the student is able to look up, assess and use the information found in dictionaries and grammar rules in an efficient way; 5. notices relationship between particular sentence elements and the text as a whole and is able to analyze the full sentence as such; 6. finds relevant information in the text
Competences:
The student – 7. realizes the importance of knowing the language; 8. is aware of the significance of a substantive comment; 9. is open to the ideas and criticism of others; 10. acquires and evaluates new information without the help of others

Assessment criteria
The final grade consists of:
- an assessment of the student’s preparation for each week’s classes
- passing all quick-check tests
- the student’s activity in class
Assessment methods:
Current evaluation- checking home writing assignments (2-5, pass or no)
- evaluation of the student’s preparation for class (pass or no)
- evaluation of quick-check tests – 50% - 3 - is a pass; 90% - 5
- final test at the end of the semester (2-5, 35% is a grade of dst –D)
