(in Polish) ML: How nature works - some aspects of modern natural philosophy WF-FI-123-WMANKU25
The lecture explores how natural philosophy in 17th and 18th century England laid the intellectual groundwork for the Scientific Revolution. It highlights the transition from traditional, often Aristotelian, views of nature to a mechanistic and empirical understanding of the natural world. Key figures such as Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton, and Robert Boyle are discussed for their contributions to scientific methodology and theory. The lecture emphasizes how their approaches—based on observation, experimentation, and mathematical reasoning—reshaped concepts of causality, motion, and matter. It also addresses the broader cultural and philosophical context, including the influence of religion, the rise of scientific societies like the Royal Society, and the shift towards viewing nature as a system governed by universal laws. This period is portrayed as a turning point that bridged medieval thought and modern science.
