Seminar: Workshop on writing reviews WF-FI-1123-WPRT-PIEK
The aim of the workshop is to learn how to prepare and write reviews of scientific and popular science papers. Students learn the rules of editing and evaluating texts and learn about the socio-cultural conditions of writing reviews. Each student will write an independent review of the selected scientific paper.

Knowledge: the student knows the basic principles of writing reviews of scientific papers. He understands what is a scientific paper and what criteria it must meet. He knows the social and institutional conditions for creating science.
Skills: the student independently writes a review of a selected scientific paper.
Competences: the student effectively organizes his own work and critically assesses its advancement.

Assessment criteria
Knowledge:
Grade 2: the student does not know what a scientific text is, what it is about writing a review.
Grade 3: the student has a minimal knowledge of what a scientific text is and what it is about to evaluate. To a small extent, he is capable of writing a review on his own.
Grade 4: the student knows to a satisfactory level what a scientific text is and what its evaluation consists of. Can write a review on his own.
Grade 5: the student knows the basic terminology of scientific texts and their evaluation very well.
Skills:
Grade 2: the student is unable to write a review of a scientific text or has not written it.
Grade 3: the student is not able to write reviews of a scientific text on his own
Grade 4: the student is able to independently write reviews of a scientific text
Grade 5: the student is able to independently and creatively write reviews of a scientific text
Competences:
Grade 2: the student is not able to effectively organize his own work in class and while writing a review, and to critically assess the degree of its advancement
Grade 3: the student has a limited ability to organize his own work in class and when writing a review, and is not able to critically assess the degree of its advancement
Grade 4: the student is able to satisfactorily organize his own work in class and when writing a review, and can critically assess the degree of its advancement
Grade 5: the student effectively organizes his own work in class and when writing a review, and critically assesses its advancement
The final grade consists of:
1. Class attendance
2. Active participation in classes
3. Submitting a self-written review of the scientific text at the end of the semester.
