Pollution and protection of the atmosphere WB-IS-12-17
Subject level:
basic
Objectives of the course:
The purpose of the lecture is to familiarize the student with the basic principles of atmospheric air protection and, in particular, with the sources of atmospheric pollution, with the methods of removing these pollutants at the level of technological processes, with the laws governing the spread and transformation of these pollutants in the atmosphere, and finally with the methods of assessing air quality performed in Poland on the basis of measurements of pollutant concentrations.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge learning outcomes:
Effect 1 - the student knows and understands to an advanced degree the basic phenomena and facts about atmospheric pollution and emissions.
Learning outcomes in terms of skills:
Effect 2 - the student is able to use the knowledge he/she has and solve complex and unusual problems in the field of atmospheric protection by proper selection and use of sources.
Competence learning outcomes:
Effect 3 - the student is ready to critically evaluate the knowledge he/she has in the field of atmospheric protection and the spread of pollution.
Assessment criteria
Pass mark for the exam - obtaining 51% of the written test marks.
Pass mark - attendance in class (2 absences possible, 1 of which must be excused), arithmetic mean of the marks obtained in class.
Assessment criteria:
Lecture: Written test exam and open questions.
19-22 pts 3.0
23-26 pts 3.5
27-30 pts 4.0
31-34 pts 4.5
35-37 pts 5.0
Assessment 2 (fail) - the student does not know and does not understand the basic processes taking place in the life cycle of devices, objects and technical systems used in the protection of the atmosphere against pollution emissions; he/she is not able to use the knowledge he/she possesses and, on its basis, formulate and solve complex and non-typical problems in the field of atmosphere protection; he/she is not ready to make a critical assessment of the knowledge he/she possesses in the field of the protection of the atmosphere and the spread of pollution.
Assessment 3 (sufficient) - the student knows and understands processes occurring in the life cycle of equipment, facilities and technical systems used in the protection of the atmosphere against pollution emissions; he/she can sufficiently use the knowledge possessed and, on its basis, formulate and solve complex and non-typical problems in the field of atmosphere protection; to a basic degree, he/she is ready to critically evaluate the knowledge possessed in the field of the protection of the atmosphere and the spread of pollution.
Assessment 4 (good) - the student knows and understands processes occurring in the life cycle of equipment, facilities and technical systems used in the protection of the atmosphere against pollution emissions; he/she can make good use of the knowledge possessed and, on its basis, formulate and solve complex and non-typical problems in the field of atmosphere protection; to a good degree, he/she is ready to critically evaluate the knowledge possessed in the field of the protection of the atmosphere and the spread of pollution.
Assessment 5 (very good) - the student knows and understands the processes occurring in the life cycle of equipment, facilities and technical systems used in the protection of the atmosphere against pollution emissions; he/she can use the knowledge possessed very well and, on its basis, formulate and solve complex and non-typical problems in the field of atmosphere protection; he/she is ready to make a critical assessment of the knowledge possessed in the field of atmosphere protection and pollution dispersion.
