Human Physiology WB-BI-ANG-19cw
The general aims of the course are to give the students knowledge of the physiology and anatomy of their own body. On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
• Describe how the major body systems or organs function
• Describe how different parts of the body work together
• Describe what would happen if some parts of the body systems do not work properly.
Content: structure and function of a number of body/organ systems: The nervous system, circulatory organs, endocrine organs, reproductive organs, digestive tract, respiratory organs, immune system, skeleton and muscles, kidney and urinary system.
The teaching is given in the form of lectures, seminars and problem based learning.

Knowledge:
Effect 1: the student understands complex biological phenomena and processes occurring in physiological mechanisms
the student has knowledge of the most important problems of various Effect 2: departments in the study of human physiology and knows their connections with other natural disciplines such as biochemistry

Effect 3: the student understands the literature on human physiology in Polish; reads scientific texts in English with understanding
Effect 4: student uses available sources of information, including electronic sources

Effect 5: the student understands the need to improve professional and personal competences
Effect 6: the student demonstrates the need for constant updating of the field knowledge

Assessment criteria
Lectures: problematic lecture, discussion lecture
Exercises: activities based on the student's own work (including the performance of simple observations in accordance with the instructions prepared by the instructor, the preparation by the student of a presentation and a short essay)
Evaluation: lecture - one-answer test, diagrams for description - max 40 pts
Exercises: presentation - 20 pts + essay 30 pts = a total of 50 pts a student may earn
