Plant physiology WB-BI-23-18lab
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with selected processes taking place in plants, to present the basic life processes, both at the molecular and organism level.
The aim of the exercises is to acquire knowledge and practical skills related to research methods, the ability to search, prepare and present research results.
The student improves his competences related to the profession of a plant biologist.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes:
Subject effect 1: knows and understands selected facts, objects and complex conditions in biology, understands basic biological phenomena and processes;
Subject effect 2: knows and understands to an advanced degree the most important problems of plant physiology, which enables the understanding of basic natural phenomena and processes and knows their connections with other natural disciplines;
Subjective effect 3: knows how to properly select sources and information from them, understands literature on biology in Polish; reads scientific texts in English with understanding
Subjective effect 4: plan and organise individual work and cooperate and work in a group, assuming various roles in it, and carry out assigned research tasks
Subject effect 5: is ready to critically evaluate the knowledge possessed and the content received, recognise the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems in the field of biology
Subject outcome 6: is ready to care for the achievements and traditions of the profession, is responsible for the safety of his/her own work and that of others
Assessment criteria
Evaluation method: The obtained grade is the average of the written test and short entry tests written before each practical work. The minimum positive grade, which is 3.0 (sufficient) is the condition of eligibility for written exam.
One unexcused absence is accepted.
Grades:
91 – 100% A (5.0),
81 – 90% B+ (4.5),
71 – 80% B (4.0),

51 – 60% C (3.0),
50% or less than 50% -failed (2.0).
Knowledge:
grade 2 (insufficient) the student does not understand the objects and relationships of the complex determinants of plant physiology processes and does not understand the basic processes and phenomena in plant cell physiology; he/she is not able to relate them to other natural disciplines
- grade 3 (sufficient) the student understands the objects and interdependencies of complex conditions of plant physiological processes with difficulty and understands the basic processes and phenomena in plant cell physiology; he/she is able to relate them to other natural disciplines to a limited degree
- grade 4 (good)the student understands the objects and relations of complex conditions of plant physiological processes and understands basic processes and phenomena in plant cell physiology; he/she is able to relate this knowledge to other natural disciplines
- grade 5 (very good) the student has an excellent understanding of the objects and relationships of the complex determinants of plant physiology processes and understands the basic processes and phenomena in plant cell physiology; is able to relate this knowledge to other natural disciplines.
Skills:
- grade 2 (insufficient) the student is not able to select sources and information from them appropriately, does not understand biology literature in Polish; does not read scientific texts in English with understanding; is not able to plan and organise individual work and to cooperate and work in a group, assuming different roles in it, as well as to perform assigned research tasks
evaluation 3 (satisfactory) the student with difficulty can appropriately select sources and information from them, understands the literature in the field of biology in Polish; reads scientific texts in English with comprehension to a limited degree; is not able to plan and organise his individual work as well as cooperate and work in a group, taking on various roles in it, and to complete assigned research tasks.
- mark 4 (good) the student is able to select sources and information from them, understands the literature on biology in Polish; is able to read scientific texts in English with comprehension; is able to plan and organise his/her individual work as well as interact and work in a group, taking on various roles in it, and to complete assigned research tasks
- mark 5 (very good) the student is able to select sources and information from them, understands the literature on biology in Polish; reads scientific texts in English with comprehension; is able to plan and organise his/her individual work as well as interact and work in a group, taking on various roles in it, and to complete assigned research tasks.
Competences:
is ready to critically evaluate his/her knowledge and perceived content, recognise the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems in biology
BI1_K03 , is ready to take care of the achievements and traditions of the profession, is responsible for own work safety.
