Course description:
Fundamental concepts in biochemistry: static/dynamic aspects of carbohydrates, fatty acids, lipids, sterols, proteins and nucleic acids, structure-function relationships, metabolic pathways, energy production, metabolic regulatory mechanisms, membranes and membrane transport, signal transduction, relation of fundamental metabolic processes to human health.
Exam – consisting of a combination of multiple-choice and short written answers.

BI1_W01 understands the basic metabolic processes occurring in living cells with particular emphasis on power, control, and integration of cellular metabolism and signal transduction in the body
BI1_W03 - has knowledge of mathematics, physics, and chemistry necessary for an understanding of basic phenomena and biochemical processes
BI1_W05 - has a knowledge of the basic conceptual categories and terminology, biochemical, and has knowledge of biochemistry and the development of the methods used in the research
BI1_W07 - has knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and measurement used in biochemistry and molecular biology

2. Skills
BI1_U02 0 understand the literature in the field of biochemistry in the Polish language, read and understand simple scientific texts in English
