During the course, the student becomes familiar with the knowledge of the basics of general botany. Learning objectives: Knowledge of issues involving plant cell anatomy; histology, anatomy and morphology of plant organs; plant development cycles; generative and vegetative reproduction in lower plant and spermatophytes and ecological forms of vascular plants.

Knowledge:
1. student has got knowledge of general botany, knows issues about: construction of plant cells, histology, anatomy and morphology of plant organs, plant development cycles, sexual and asexual reproduction of cryptograms and spermatophytes, understands basic biological processes;
2. student has knowledge of basic conceptual categories in botany, botanical terminology, and the role and the importance of plants in natural environment.
Skills:
1. student analyzes the literature about basis of general botany individually;
2. student uses available sources of information, also electronic, including different types of botanical data;
3. student makes uncomplicated research tasks under the guidance of a tutor;
4. student is able to make simple physical, biological and chemical measurements in the laboratory.
Competences:
1. student is able to cooperate and work in a group during realization of a research task, shows openness in discussions of the substance;

Participation in lectures - 30 hours, preparing for the exam 30 - hours, total hours - 60; [60 hours/30 (25) hours = about 2]. The number of ECTS /lecture/: 2. Participation in laboratories - 30 hours, preparing for classes - 25 hours, consultations - 5 hours, preparing for tests - 25 hours; total hours - 85 [85/30 (25) = about 3], the number of ECTS /laboratories/: 3.
