(in Polish) Wybrane zagadnienia ekonomii UKSW-P-MBA-WZE
The course “Selected Topics in Economics” is an advanced program designed for healthcare managers enrolled in an MBA program in Healthcare Management. The course aims to deepen participants’ economic knowledge and develop the analytical skills necessary for making strategic decisions in the dynamic healthcare environment. Students are introduced to the theoretical foundations of economics, learning how to utilize analytical tools to assess management efficiency, forecast trends, and evaluate the impact of government policies on the healthcare sector.
The course covers, among other topics, the following lecture themes:
1. Introduction to Health Economics – An overview of the healthcare market’s specifics, key concepts, and the economic challenges related to medical care.
2. Cost-Benefit Analysis in Healthcare – Methods for evaluating investment profitability, cost-benefit analysis, and the impact of economic decisions on the quality of medical services.
3. Healthcare Financing and Budgeting – Issues concerning funding acquisition, managing institutional budgets, and optimal resource allocation.
4. Pricing of Medical Services and Pricing Policies – Techniques for valuing services, setting prices, and analyzing the impact of pricing policies on accessibility and service efficiency.
5. Resource Optimization and Efficiency Management – Strategies for improving resource utilization, tools for increasing operational efficiency, and practical aspects of management in healthcare institutions.
6. Impact of Public Policies on the Healthcare System – An analysis of regulations, fiscal and monetary policies, and their role in shaping the healthcare environment.
The course combines economic theory with practical case studies, enabling participants to develop critical analysis skills and make decisions based on reliable data. The acquired knowledge helps to better understand market mechanisms within the healthcare sector and prepares students for effective management in both the public and private sectors. Additionally, the course fosters the development of interpersonal skills and teamwork, which are crucial for managing complex healthcare systems.
