Old Testament Foundations of Christian Morality WT-SSTA-O
One of the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council was the postulate that moral theology should consider the problems of Christian morality based on the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. The Council encouraged the reading of the moral sense of God's call to man in the light of biblical exegesis and theology. In the Dogmatic Constitution on God's Revelation we read: "God, the author of the inspiration and the author of the books of both Testaments, wisely chose to hide the New Testament in the Old, and the Old to find an explanation in the New" (CO 16). The lecture will justify the validity of moral obligations in relation to the People of Israel. It is also about showing the three foundations of morality in the Old Testament (election, covenant, and law).
