Stress-Related Disorders – Etiology, Symptoms and Management WF-PS-SRD-ER
Stress is a psychological feeling or physical condition resulting from physical or mental 'positive or negative pressure' that overwhelms adaptive capacities.
First part of the lecture will be focused on stress-related disorders, such as adjustment disorders/ anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder, that are a result of an atypical response to both short and long-term anxiety due to physical, mental, or emotional stress.
The adjustment disorder is a diagnostic category characterized by an emotional response to a stressful event. It is a state of subjective distress and emotional disturbance, which arises during the course of adapting to stresses of significant life changes, stressful life events, serious physical illness, or possibility of serious illness.
In the second part of the lecture effective therapeutic implications, such as Specialist Stress Management Training and Mindfulness Stress Reduction Training will be presented.
