Zoology (practice) WB-BI-ANG-04cw
Description
This course provides with a broad background of the scientific study of Applied Zoology by studying the principles, theoretical and practical issues and introduce the scientific study of this discipline. It brings the conceptual knowledge in the related disciplines as agriculture, evolution and industry. The course considers also the various connectivity of zoology and its applications into industry, the processes generating and influencing the market, and the issues surrounding the conservation and sustainability.
This course considers patterns and processes in different scales. Along with the facts and theories outlined in the course, a few specific case studies and examples are shown.
Specific aims of the course are to
To acquaint students with the general characters and classification of chordates and the affinities between different groups.
identify industry and examples of applied zoology at local, regional and global levels and scales,
To impart knowledge regarding the morphological, anatomical and physiological make up of a few representative organisms from each phylum.
consider the issues surrounding the conservation and its influence on the market.
During the classes students work on the original biological texts, movies, quizzes aiming searching for information to the given questions. The work is done individually, in pairs and in groups. Students also participate in conversations. Short tests check the students' progress.
