Presentations and public speaking - journalistic rhetoric and eristic WT-DKS-DMPWR
The specific aim of the classes is:
- to prepare students for creating and delivering presentations on a chosen topic in a professional manner, taking into account the principles of public speaking,
- to deepen students' skills in self-presentation, public speaking, and active participation in discussions,
- to prepare students for presenting their own beliefs and work in a brilliant, verbally and non-verbally attractive way.

After completing the classes, the student:
In terms of knowledge:
EK1 - has an in-depth knowledge of interpersonal and social communication processes in various aspects, their regularities, and disturbances (K_W06)
EK 2 - is proficient in the principles of the Polish language (spelling and pronunciation), stylistic, rhetorical, and eristic means, body language, as well as the principles of conducting debates and public disputes in speech and writing, and the principles of working with audiovisual media, computer, and the Internet, as well as contemporary multimedia tools (K_W11)
In terms of skills:
EK 3 - constructs all forms of information (written and oral) fluently, flawlessly selects acquired information, notices and indicates dependencies between them, and their impact on social processes and individual attitudes of recipients (K_U03)
EK 4 - has a fluent practical skill in preparing oral statements in the Polish language, following the rules and principles of rhetoric, pronunciation, grammar, and stylistics of the Polish language, as well as the requirements of media communication (K_U05)
In terms of skills:
EK 5 - has a deep conviction about the meaning, value, and necessity of undertaking communicative actions in the social environment; is ready to take on professional challenges; demonstrates activity, takes on difficulties, and stands out with a high level of perseverance in the implementation of individual and team professional activities in the field of social communication (K_K04).
Assessment criteria
EK No. 1:
To obtain a grade three (3): Student has basic knowledge of interpersonal and social communication processes.
To obtain a grade four (4): Knows well the processes of interpersonal and social communication in various aspects.
To obtain a grade five (5): Possesses in-depth and organized knowledge of interpersonal and social communication processes.
EK No. 2:
To obtain a grade three (3): Can mention basic concepts in the field of linguistic pragmatics and speech act theory but cannot explain them thoroughly; can superficially present the principles of building intentional language expressions.
To obtain a grade four (4): Knows basic concepts and contents in the field of linguistic pragmatics and the principles of building purposeful language expressions but does so not fluently; the definitions provided are incomplete.
To obtain a grade five (5): Perfectly knows concepts and contents in the field of linguistic pragmatics and can fully define them; confidently indicates and describes the principles of building intentional language expressions.
EK No. 3:
To obtain a grade three (3): Can recognize only selected aspects of speech acts as elements of communicative action.
To obtain a grade four (4): Can recognize most aspects of speech acts as elements of communicative action.
To obtain a grade five (5): Can recognize all aspects of speech acts as elements of communicative action
EK No. 4:
To obtain a grade three (3): Can organize work but does not adhere to imposed conditions, e.g., time constraints, and selectively considers contextual variables affecting the communication situation.
To obtain a grade four (4): Efficiently navigates the role of the author in speeches and public presentations, taking into account imposed conditions, but the effectiveness of their work is variable, and their efficiency is not consistently high.
To obtain a grade five (5): The effectiveness of the author's actions, considering contextual variables, is consistently very high.
EK No. 5:
To obtain a grade three (3): Appreciates the differentiation of acts as an essential element of communication but does not see the connection between them and social behaviors; only briefly lists the non-informative functions of language.
To obtain a grade four (4): Appreciates the differentiation of speech acts as one of the essential elements of communication and recognizes the impact of messages on social behaviors; is aware of non-informative functions of language but cannot support them with practical examples.
To obtain a grade five (5): Anticipates and describes the impact of a given message on social behaviors; smoothly lists and supports non-informative functions of language with examples.
