Substantial contents: Typhlo-pedagogy – definition, scientific status, relation with other sciences, historical depiction. Modern forms and tendencies of typhlo-pedagogy. Rehabilitation of blind and partially sighted people in Poland and from abroad. Explanation of basic concepts related to this scientific discipline. Definitions, classifications, reasons of losing the sight or its damage. Eye construction. Illnesses, diseases and damages of sight – functional consequences. Pathology of sight system. Development and disorders in sight development; Adaptation of methods, forms, means for educational needs of blind and partially sighted children within the frameworks of special and integration education, on pre-school and school levels. Spatial orientation – improvement problems, developing basic abilities of spatial orientation, getting to know with techniques and developing the ability to move around with a guide. Assumptions of sight rehabilitation of partially sighted people – rules and techniques supporting the sight perception, with the use of sense compensation phenomenon. Rehabilitation aids for blind and partially sighted people. Learning of everyday activities in supporting blind people and partially sighted ones.
