Psychology of marriage and family WF-ZPS-MR-1
Course contents:
Basic concepts of marriage and family in psychology - a historical perspective. Contribution of major psychological directions in the development of the psychology of marriage and the family; Relationships of marriage and family psychology with other psychology departments; Methods used in the psychology of marriage and the family - general presentation; The importance of childhood experiences in building relationships in marriage and the family. The influence of the family of origin on the formation of relationships in marriage. Satisfying basic needs; correct self image in building intimate interpersonal relationships; the attitude of parents towards children during their childhood and the functioning of marriage and family in their children (toxicity problem).
Factors determining the quality of the marriage.
Factors reflecting the functioning of a married couple.
Satisfying the needs of the spouses; joint realization of values; resolving conflicts in marriage, the causes of conflicts at different stages of the union, integrating and disintegrating conflict resolution, conflict prevention; crisis situations in marriage, causes and therapies. External factors affecting the success of marriage.
Social and economic status, women's work, social engagement, relationships with family of origin.
Marriages of marriage.
Systemic family concept. Homeostasis in the family, intra-familial communication, family boundaries, morphogenesis and family morphostasis. Family structure in different family systems: family right, overprotective, powerless, chaotic and entangled.
Family as a community
Ties in the family. Dynamics of family interactions.
Basic family functions. Parental attitudes, parental typologies, influence of certain types of parental attitudes on child development; methods of parental attitudes examination; styles of education; role of reward and punishment. Conflict situations in the family.
Causes of conflicts at different stages of family development; ways of solving them and preventing conflicts and crises in family life.
Elderly people in the family. Illness and death in the family life.
Disorders of family systems.

KNOWLEDGE: The student has knowledge of the dysfunctional family systems, he can define the causes of dysfunction, their course and conditions, he can identify the sources of crisis in the family, he knows the issues relating to aggression and violence in the family, he can characterize disorders of childhood and adolescence also problems arising from the diversity and sexual dysfunction. He knows the problems of addiction and co- addiction in the family, he can show opportunities to help families with various types of dysfunctions.
SKILLS: The student can identify the cause of dysfunction in the family, he can analyze the main points of the content of source texts, he can interpret social phenomena relating to the issue of arising the dysfunction, he can use the theoretical knowledge to analyze the concrete processes and phenomena connected with dysfunctions, identifying their causes and course, he uses this knowledge to the analysis of the proposed forms of assistance in the area of different types of dysfunction, he can offer appropriate support to dysfunctional families
COMPETENCE/ATTITUDES: The student critically and logically uses the acquired knowledge in the field of conditions of family dysfunctions. He formulates problems and distinguishes between the various approaches and the depictions of dysfunctions, he is aware of the need for constant updating of his knowledge and skills in the field of marriage and family issues, he retains criticism and tend to verify the information, he is willing to take up discussions on the issues related to dysfunction in the family, also methods of diagnosis and family support, he can make the diagnosis of the problem, he can complement and improve his knowledge and skills.
Assessment criteria
- Grade 5 (bdb.): student has good comprehension of issues related to the psychology of marriage and the family, knows the different approaches in family psychology and is able to analyze them critically, can analyze dependencies on the determinants of durability and quality of marriage and family. He can critically and independently interpret scientific approaches, research results in this field.
- Grade 4 (db.): correctly points out the characteristics of marriage and family psychology, knows the different approaches in family psychology, can pinpoint important determinants of durability and quality of marriage and family functioning, can discuss and point to their importance and importance. He can present research results in this field.
- Grade 3 (dst.): student is able to indicate the important determinants of durability and quality of marriage and the functioning of the family and can discuss them.
- Grade 2 (next ..): does not know what is the psychology of marriage and family, can not indicate the conditions of high quality of marriage and the durability and cohesion of the family ..
The final grade consists of:

2nd assessment from the final exam
Final grade is the weighted average of the grades from the presentation (1/3) and the grade from the final exam (2/3).
